Egregious helicoptering

This community helped me a lot when my kids first started college. Both graduated, but one is now back, going for her MA. I think I've got the basics of not driving them crazy down, and this place was an assist. (I did buy them both solar/windup radio/flashlights that can charge cell phones as part of their holiday presents, but I only said I wouldn't helicopter, not that I wouldn't be a mom. Besides, they were both in the path of Hurricane Sandy, although they had no problems other than a brief loss of electricity.)

I thought of Whirlybirds when I saw this story about parents who took helicoptering to such an extreme the judge grounded them with a restraining order. I present it for your bogglement.

Oh my - how outrageous. What I want to know is how does a normal girl come from parents who are both so outrageous? Good for her for breaking free. Let's say the girl is a bit wacko - she still manages to get along in life quite well, she's allowed to be wacko. There are people out there who can lie really well, but you don't hear about any of their friends joining in the cause of the parents, so...

How exciting for you that you have one child going for an MA. Glad Sandy didn't do them any real harm.
